Code Of Conduct

Violation of these rules may result in temporary or permanent suspension of your playing privileges. If you conduct yourself in such a poor manner that we must remove you from the game you will forfeit your membership dues to cover administrative costs.

The Player Commission

Enforcement of the Code of Conduct falls to the discretion of the Player Commission and management. The Player Commissioners, commonly referred to as PCs, are players and volunteers selected by the PC chairman and management to enforce the CoC and service players who need help with game and account issues. Currently sitting on the player commission are the following players:
Chairman
OrgZen
PC's
The Iguana (PC) - Canada
Luchini (PC) - AustralAsia and South America
Eddy Crown (PC) - Europe
Duke of Dorkdom (MAC) - U.S. East
The Coroner (PC) - U.S. West
ZWIP (PC) - U.S. South
OrgZen (PC) - U.S. MidWest
ukpete (PC) - England
Demise (PC) - Finland

Code of Conduct (COC)

1. Each player is allowed 1 gym.

The management reserves the right to suspend, delete, or combine gyms at their discretion even if we suspect but cannot prove that these gyms are being run by one person.

  • Only ONE gym per computer (and if you have more than one PC, only ONE gym per person/household).
  • Any amateur gyms found to be multi-gyms will be shut down indefinitely, immediately upon detection. No questions asked.
  • Any pro gyms found to be using multiple gyms will be suspended for 2 - 5 wks, and repeat offenders will be suspended indefinitely.
  • If you wish to fight more than a single fighter, go pro.
  • Do not, under any circumstances, exchange your password with another player. This is ESPECIALLY true for the mentor program. Proteges are not to give their password to their mentor and ask them to make their fight plans or fighters. Anyone found doing this will be suspended immediately.
  • If you wish to share a PC to play the game, share a gym too.
  • If you are one of the many suspended amateurs who have contacted me to reinstate, send me a note when you are ready to turn pro.
  • Be honest with the PCs when they ask for an explanation... the security system doesn't leave much to discuss.

2. Fight fixing is strictly prohibited

Intentionally losing a fight to avoid injury points will be treated the same as fight fixing. Boxing is a warriors sport. Players who use 1/1/18 strategies (running away) for the bulk of a fight when they aren't injured, or intentionally get disqualified will be suspended. This is meant to be the equivalent of a sanctioning organization withholding a fighter's purse for an unacceptable level of effort.

3. Profanity is not allowed.

4. Fighter name complaints and name complaint system are not to be discussed on the BBS or in chat.

5. Culturally offensive terms are not permitted

A reality of running an international game the size of The Boxing Game is that many words and phrases, which by definition are not "swear" words are still offensive enough to not be acceptable in this game. This includes any and all names referring to bodily functions, sexual activity or organs (primary or secondary), or religious or cultural icons.

6. Members of the Player Commission are to be treated with respect

The player commissioners are volunteers who contribute a great deal of time and effort to the game. Abusive e-mails, BBS posts, chat sessions, all take a toll on our volunteer PCs. The contribution of these players is critical to the survival of the game and any behaviour which would cause these individuals to question their commitment will get you removed from the game immediately.

7. Players must receive permission from the chairman of the players commission prior to posting references or links to other web sites.

8. You must maintain a valid e-mail address at all times

9. You cannot advertise AP numbers or spreads when selling fighters.

We discovered managers placing misleading information on fighter pages when trying to sell them. As a result, this practice has been banned.

Members Under Gag Order

Managers who violate the code of conduct rules against harassing or insulting The Boxing Game staff and volunteers may find themselves placed under a "gag" order or "gagged".

When this happens the player can still manage fighters but is unable to participate in any of the social aspects of the game or change their manager name. They can still earn fight purses and participate in tournaments. Additionally the player will have read-only access to most if not all social aspects of the game.

There is no financial compensation for pro players who are "gagged" and the order can be applied by any of the staff or volunteers. There are no set rules for the duration of a gag and in extreme cases these orders can be permanent and/or lead to expulsion from the game.

When you are gagged you cannot communicate with the player commission via internal mail and must use e-mail to ask any questions.

In addition, our current chat engine doesn't block gagged fighters from entering. Therefore, you are warned now that entering and participating in chat when gagged is considered a violation of your gag order and you will be suspended immediately for 2-5 weeks if found in violation.

Edit

Membership Banning

Non-paying players can be removed from the game at any time for any infraction of the Code of Conduct (COC), however more often than not a Gag will be enforced first unless the violation is deemed to have gone too far. Any further violation of the COC after a gag has been placed will result in the player being removed from the game or banned

Paying players (PRO) will only be removed from the game if they are persistent in violating the COC.

It is important to note that management reserves the right to remove any player, pro or amateur, from the game at any time without reason.
